Deciduous highlights at the 2020 California Shohin Seminar

Last weekend the California Shohin Society hosted the 17th Biennial Shohin Seminar in Santa Nella, California.

The event is about as fun as bonsai events can be. Friday features demonstrations, attendees participate in workshops on Saturday, and Sunday features shohin-themed lectures or demonstrations. I spoke about shohin development techniques Sunday morning and Kathy Shaner provided a critiqued of trees from the exhibit.

The weekend also marked the launch of my new book, The Little Book of Bonsai. Thanks to everyone who picked up copies at the event – I really appreciate it!

As for the Seminar exhibit, I was impressed by the quality of the deciduous bonsai on display. I’ve featured several highlights below. I’ll share some of the conifers and shohin displays on Friday.
