This is interesting because of the massive root ball reduction.
There is a lot to see here. The tree is outrageous. Note the carving done to round the branch transition. Also, I find it fascinating that the tree is pressure washed - even the roots. There is much discussion about the shin (heart) of the azalea needing to be protected on the internet. I read an article that suggests that this just means you should not trim away the roots directly under the trunk of the tree. Yet others imply you should avoid disturbing this area. This surely makes one believe that you can disturb it...
