It’s mighty windy out there in D.C. today! Take a behind-the-scenes look at the Cold Frame, one of the five Museum locations we keep bonsai in the winter to protect them from the elements. “The structure of the Cold Frame is built in the ground on the north side of a retaining wall. There is no light inside and it is protected from the wind. The temperature is very close to the outside air temperature. Trees stored in this location are cold hardy such as Hornbeams, Azaleas, and Beeches. This location is closed to the public.”
