Pictured here is Naemi Iwasaki, Chair of the Nippon Bonsai Association and Vice Chair of the World Bonsai Friendship Federation at the entrance to the 2018 US National Bonsai Exhibition in Rochester, NY last week. In 2004 the bonsai to her right was donated to our treasured National Bonsai and Penjing Museum by her husband, the late bonsai collector Daizo Iwasaki. In 1961 Mr. Iwasaki grafted the delicate ‘Kokonoe’ White Pine foliage to the vigorous root system of a Black Pine to create the masterpiece which it has become. What a marvel!
