September already! Cooler weather is on the way. For our September meeting we will make pinch pots with member Chris Trabka teaching us how! We meet again at KCTC 1655 East Beltline NE, enter through door 75 in parking lot #5. We will each make a small pinch pot for a smaller bonsai or an accent plant You are only limited by your imagination Come make something beautiful. You can pick up your glazed and fired, finished pot at the December meeting. We'll have the Scots Pine bonsai to view and buy raffle tickets for (we will draw the winner at the club show in October). This is a very nice tree styled at our last meeting by our friend Bill Cadmun from Lansing. Speaking of the Club show it is scheduled in the new Covenant Learning Center in the lower level of Meijer Gardens. It will be the first use of this new area and it should be well attended. I encourage everyone to participate by entering a tree, helping set up or tear down, or working on a tree during the show in the informal demo area. Every part of this is important and we need volunteers for all of the jobs. The set up is from 1 till 3 Friday the 5th and we should accept trees from 3 till 5 that day. Saturday we can accept trees from 8 till we open to the public at 10. Tear down will begin at 5 on Sunday. Please enter a tree or two and help make this a great show. Mention the show and hours on social media and encourage all your friends to attend. Meijer Gardens has invited all the horticulture club members to an open house to view the new facilities of the Covenant Learning Center on Sept 25 from 5 to 7 pm. This is the first opportunity you have to see the new facilities we will use for club meetings and Club shows in the future. I encourage you to participate and see what a beautiful space they have created.
